The leaves have turned in Door County, Wisconsin.  Sitting on a bench overlooking Lake Michigan, the bright orange and red of maples lining the beach across the bay are a gaudy border to the blue water.  So refreshing…

We watched the waves at high tide crash against the limestone cliffs of Cave Point.  We walked the mile-long white sand beach of White Fish Dunes.  We ate far too much at the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek [picture above].  It was worth the 3 pounds I gained…

Sharon and husband Merle and their children owned and operated a specialty shop and restaurant in a restored dairy barn for thirteen years in a village in Illinois. After closing their restaurant, they converted the barn into the family home and moved their shop to the garden level. They operated a collectable shop as a home-based business for another thirteen years before retiring to the country life.
