The windmill still stands along the pond in our garden, no longer able to pump water from the cistern under its base. Its fan blades rusted and fell to the ground long ago. It originally supplied water to the barn where the Hancock and Staker families kept cattle and horses in the 1800’s.
The barn is now our restored home. The rusted base of the windmill remains as a reminder of the farm’s agricultural days. Today, it presents a stark silhouette against an over-cast sky.
