About Sharon

Sharon and her husband, Merle, live in a restored, four-level dairy barn in Illinois.  Together with their two children, the family owned and operated specialty shops and a restaurant in the vintage building for thirteen years.  After closing the restaurant, the couple  renovated the commercial barn into a home.  They continued their business by operating a collectable shop from their home until retiring from retail in December of 2009.

Sharon has a degree in business administration and appeared monthly on the local NBC T.V. affiliate as a special feature guest for fourteen years.   She speaks on a variety of topics including cottage lifestyle, cottage gardening, decorating with collectables, and the Christian lifestyle for the modern woman.

In addition to her blog, Sharon writes a bi-weekly e-newsletter entitled “Cottage Chat,” sharing recipes, projects, and cottage commentary and lifestyle.  She also writes an e-newsletter entitled “Prophecy Chat” discussing current events in light of scripture.

She is the author of four published fictional novels, The Younger Girl,  Door County Cottage, Timeless–A Door County Love Story, and Door County Cabin.   Her stories, set in Door County Wisconsin, celebrate  romance as it blossoms within traditional values.  For a description of her charming novels, see the Door County Love Stories page of this blog.  They are available at Amazon.com for Kindle e-books.  Door County Cabin is also available in paperback format.

Sharon and Merle are the parents of two grown children who enjoy visiting the Farm Grove barn with their families.

Hi Sharon. I stopped by yesterday to look around and left a note about taking my engagement pictures by the chapel. I was wondering about also taking some pictures on your property this Sunday (May 23). It is so pretty and I have had a hard time finding somewhere outdoors with character. I can be reached either by email or better by phone at 309-253-2680.

Thanks so much and look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Sharon, I’m happy to have found your blog. Originally from Milwaukee, I live in Stevens Point and have rarely missed a yearly visit to Door County. I also happen to be currently searching for Good fiction, and am looking forward to checking out your books!

Longing for the Door these days, as we are weathering the drought in Illinois, Colleen. Hope it is green in Stevens Point! Enjoy the books of the Door County Series. The 4th set in Egg Harbor and Bailey’s Harbor will be out the end of the summer, in both Kindle and paperback through Amazon. I will be interviewed this Saturday on The World and Everything In It, a syndicated Christian world news program. They are doing a series about “What I Did On My Summer Vacation,” and I speak about trips to Door County and the books that are inspired there. The TWE web site will have times when it is aired on local stations. Thanks for the comments!
